Death Note Question: How is Near able to hear Ryuk? (read details)?

Near doesn't hear Ryuk, Light and the other at the task force are the only ones who can (because they have touched the note book). Light asks Ryuk if the rules are real and then Light tells Near what Ryuk said. Near suspects that it's a lie, and the reason why he is lying is to help hide the fact that Light is Kira from the other task force members.
