Is a man dating an attractive woman a sign of status?

Seems a lot of rich and famous men (even if they aren't attractive themselves) marry or date very attractive women. I've noticed that a lot of old famous or wealthy men especially date young women who are half their age ( I would think that at that age personality would be their main reason for dating women).
